Workshop 3: What words that are used which draw you to like God?

Synopsis: In the third session of our workshop, Karen again reviewed the issues that arise when talking about God but also the benefits. We reviewed the ground rules to help make this a safe space.

The group each voted with stickers on words that they felt most represented their conception of God. This was harder than the previous month, because it is easier to say what you don't believe than what you do believe (as theologian Marcus Borg has pointed out.)

The group was less cohesive than before. We discussed several concepts that were more often chosen: God as Love and God as creativity. Although God as the Light within was often chosen, we held that discussion until next month to give it more time.

Karen also reviewed English religious history that led to the emergence of Quakerism, which led to the eventual demise of the belief that you practiced the religion of your ruler and the development of religious belief as an individual right.
